Laurel, Maryland, readers may have heard about this building collapse that resulted in the deaths of two men. According to the news from Jan. 21, an industrial accident in Omaha, Nebraska, left multiple people injured and two dead after a building collapsed. The collapse was allegedly due to an explosion, according to the reports, and 50 firefighters responded to the scene.
The reports claim that there were initially 38 people in the building. Ten of those people had been injured by the explosion; a 37-year-old man was admitted for a collapsed lung, a 38-year-old man was having breathing issues, a 50-year-old man was suffering from hypothermia, and a 30-year-old man was released after treatment for minor injuries. One person was said to have been in critical condition. Three patients were sent to Creighton University Medical Center, three went to Bergan Mercy Medical Center, and two others were taken to St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center. It was reported that at least two other patients were taken to Bergan Mercy in serious condition.
Some of the workers being treated suffered from severe burns, according to the news reports. Police reported two bodies found, one of which was a 53-year-old man. Crews had also not been able to search much of the building due to structural issues.
