One person is dead following a bus accident in Maryland, and six other people were injured in the crash. The person who passed away was a teacher at Preston Elementary School, and she was driving a passenger car. The bus, however, was in the process of bringing individuals to a day care center for adults. The accident happened on Tuesday, Dec. 30.
The crash happened right around 8:30 a.m., out on Bethlehem Road. A passenger vehicle was traveling down that road heading toward the bus, and reports show that it apparently left its lane and moved into the direct path of the bus. The reason that this happened is not yet known.
Regardless, the bus driver did try to get out of the way, but the collision could not be avoided. When the car struck the bus, the larger vehicle was flipped over onto its side.
Inside of the bus, five individuals were hurt, along with one of the assistants who was on board. These six people were then taken to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center by the emergency crews who were called to the scene of the crash. The severity of the individual injuries was not reported at this time.
The bus was being driven for the Caroline Medical Adult Day Care.
As this case shows, workplace injuries can happen in all manner of settings, including on the road. Have you been injured on the job, even if it was not in a traditional work setting? If so, make sure that you know what legal rights you have to compensation.
